Certified Pre-Owned Cat adoption event

17 Sep

Since Wednesday 14th September 2011 until the 21st, the Irvine Animal Care Center is running its second Annual Certified Pre-Owned Adoption event. During this time, the shelter offers a reduced price on all its current cats and kittens, with further promotions on different breeds every day. (more info on the event can be found here)

This year, over the weekend the shelter decided to hold a small event alongside the promotions, to attract attention to the shelter and the amazing work it does. Part of this was of course a BAKE SALE! Helping raise money for rescuing animals whilst being creative with baked goods…how could I resist?

At the last shelter event, The 5th Annual Super Pet Adoption, the favourite item was sugar cookies, and my favourite – cakepops, so I knew that that’s what I wanted to make. Recently I haven’t made either, and as much as I love cupcakes, it was nice to make something different for a change.

With the theme of cats (and pets) in mind, they became Cat and Dog Cake Pops,

And kitty sugar cookies,

So along with afew other vendors, and the amazing staff and volunteers at the Irvine Animal Care Center, we had an event!

Compared to some of the previous events, the day was alittle quieter than expected. However, over the course of the day, 7 cats and 3 dogs found there new forever homes today, and over the course of the event so far, a whopping 43 (tbc) cats have found homes. This is an amazing number, and something we hope to continue. Also on a side note, the bake sale, show casing the creative talents of the volunteers raised nearly $300!, something I personally was very proud off.

If you have room in your home for a furry friend, please stop by the Irvine Animal Care Center over the next few days and visit. Due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no cat adoptions tomorrow (Sunday 9/18), but will be back open on Monday at 12.
