Today was back to reality with a bump.
Each week I try and schedule a post to go out over the weekend, as its when I have the most time to sit down and write something. However this weekend was alittle different. Early Friday morning, the hubby and I flew off to San Francisco for the weekend
What an amazing weekend it was! Despite the ridiculous weather conditions for flying on Friday morning, causing delays to all flights, we managed to get there on time. We owe a massive gratitude to the staff of United Airlines who let us get on the earlier flight as we were there, rather than the 7:24am flight we were due on. Had we been on our ‘scheduled’ flight, we would have been stuck at the airport for another 3hours! Instead we landed at SFO at 8:30am, with a full day ahead.
While in San Francisco, I just had to make a stop at one place I have heard so much about ‘Kara’s Cupcakes’. Over the last few months I have been introduced to alot of great Cupcake and Baking related blogs, and Kara’s is one place that has always had great reviews. Saturday morning, this post, appeared on my news feed, it just seemed like destiny!
So after a trip up to the famous Ghirardelli Square, we arrived at Kara’s Cupcakes Store!
As soon as you walk in, the day just seems bright, even with the grayest cloudy weather outside. Ok, so the day we visit was a bright sunny day, but the store front was so cute and clear. There were so many choices of flavors and frosting’s, we couldn’t decide on one each, so we ended up leaving the store with two each to try back at the hotel.
My choice, a Banana Caramel and one of the daily specials, Organic Blackberry. The hubby went for Chocolate Velvet and Sweet Vanilla.
(Sadly, the Chocolate Velvet cupcake suffered on the trip back to the hotel on the crazily busy tram ride back to Union Square.)
However, that didn’t detract from the taste of these cupcakes! They were amazing! All of the cakes were so light and the frosting complemented perfectly. I have to admit, despite my love of cupcakes, I am not the biggest fan of store brought frosting’s. They are often too heavy for me. However, these cupcakes had such a light frosting, I could have easily have had more. The frosting for the Chocolate Velvet was almost like Chocolate Mousse, and thats the similar consistency of all the frosting’s.

The rest of our weekend was spent exploring Napa Valley, wine country, which is something I would recommend to anyone travelling up to San Francisco with a love for wine!
Now it is back to a busy September coming up, with the start of a new Wilton course, Cupcake Camp OC and Animal Rescue Bake Sale all on the Calendar.
